Working with a Naturopath or Functional Medicine doctor?

I’ll help you put your plan into practice.

Health coaching that turns your protocol into meals, routines, and habits you can keep, with support between doctor’s visits.

Hi, my name is Mia Taylor, and for the last decade, I have dedicated myself to using both my personal experience and years of study to help others feel better and heal. To read more about me, my journey through a variety of debilitating health conditions that drove me to heal, change my career, and help others with a unique approach, visit my About page.

What people are saying:

“I’m so glad I found you, I feel like this might actually work this time” - L.P.

“I love the dynamic of having a doctor and a health coach - I feel heard, cared for, and have much more confidence in my care.” L.S.

What you can expect in the first few weeks:

  • Intro call (15 minutes). We review where you are in your protocol, what the biggest challenges have been for you, and how to get you some relief while going through your treatment.

  • First session (30 or 50 minutes). Guidance on dietary support, clarifying next steps and what to expect, lifestyle steps matched to your current phase of healing, and a direct line to your doctor for follow-up questions.

  • Ongoing support (15 or 30 minutes at a customized cadence). Check-ins, accountability, and adjustments as you progress. We also use this time to synthesize your treatment responses so your appointments with your doctor are efficient.

I see the body as a whole interconnected system, and so do Naturopaths. Because of this, my goal is to provide and help you implement tools for improving general wellness as well. Our main focus will be the digestive system, which is directly responsible for so many other areas of our body. It is also believed to control between 70% and 80% of our immune system, runs the course of our entire body, is considered the Second Brain, and has the ability to affect things like:

  • Digestive function causing bloating, gas, nausea, reflux, and irregular bowel moements

  • Nervous system regulation (calming anxiety and stress, etc.)

  • Mental health, mood, and hormone balance

  • Nutrient and mineral absorption

  • Immune function (unexplained illnesses, allergies, sinus infections, etc)

  • Acne, hair shedding, and skin conditions

  • …so much more

Your body’s organs are interconnected, and its parts are often inter-dependent. Many researchers believe the digestive system is the hub. For that reason, I’ve spent a majority of my studies focused on how to improve digestive/gut health as a means to improving overall wellness.

Results to expect:

  • A better understanding of what is actually happening in your body, and how to support it

  • Support for managing symptoms day to day

  • Compassionate, knowledgeable support and encouragement

  • Stress reduction and solutions to get better quality sleep

  • Full support through complex treatments and protocols designed by your doctor

  • A toolkit of resources, practices, and knowledge you can reference to take control of your body again

  • Guidance and inspiration for growth and change in areas of your life that affect overall health and wellness.

Your doctor leads your treatment. I’m here to help you live it day to day.

“…She’s brilliant and it’s just a wonderful thing to have someone ‘in your corner’ when you’re dealing with so many things, doctors, and time pressure.”

FAQs

Do you replace my Doctor?
Your doctor provides medical care, prescriptions, and your health plan. They are the architect. I don’t diagnose, treat, or prescribe. My role is to help you put your health plan into place, make it sustainable, keep you on track, help organize your treatment responses for your doctor, and guide you in all the areas mentioned above. For any medical questions, symptoms, or medication changes, your doctor remains your go-to.

How do you share notes with my Doctor?
If your doctor is one of my collaborative partners, your chart is updated in a secure medical portal - the same one you use with your doctor. If not, your information is transmitted to your doctor through encrypted data transfer. Either way, your doctor stays up to date with our progress together!

Is this covered by insurance or eligible for HSA/FSA?

Health coaching usually isn’t covered by insurance, though some plans and employer wellness programs do cover it, so it’s worth asking your insurer. HSA/FSA eligibility depends on your situation: coaching for general wellness typically doesn’t qualify, but it may if your doctor provides a Letter of Medical Necessity stating it’s needed to treat a diagnosed condition.
Check with your plan administrator, and I am happy to provide you with receipts for your sessions and many find that their insurance is willing to reimburse those fees.

How often do we meet?
Most clients meet weekly to start, or every other week, often tapering to monthly as habits become more automatic. I offer 15-minute sessions for when support is needed in between sessions.

Do you meet in person or virtually?
Yes, I meet virtually, through Zoom, and am currently providing services to clients in 9 different countries!

Can you help with a specific condition like diabetes, high blood pressure, or weight management?
Yes. I often work with people managing chronic conditions. I focus on the lifestyle side, such as nutrition habits, movement, sleep, stress, and consistency, within the plan your healthcare team has set. If something comes up that’s outside my scope, I’ll encourage you to check in with your provider.

Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between us, except in rare situations where safety is at risk or the law requires disclosure.

How long do people usually work with you?

Most clients work with me for [3–6 months]. That’s typically enough time to build new habits and see them hold up through real life, like busy weeks, travel, and setbacks. Some clients come for a shorter, focused stretch, and others continue longer for ongoing support to ensure they maintain their health. We’ll check in periodically on whether coaching is still serving you.

What results can I expect?
Results depend on your goals and how actively you engage between sessions. Clients commonly report more energy, better sleep, steadier eating habits, and more confidence managing their health. I can’t guarantee specific outcomes, but I’ll help you track progress so you can see what’s working.
